People’s Demand, ‘First Temple, Then Election’: Uddhav Thackrey in Ayodhya To Remind BJP Of Its Poll Promise

The Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has arrived in Ayodhya today (24 November) for his two-day visit where he’ll partake in rituals near the Saryu river and address the Shiv Sainiks among others in regard with the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The Shiv Sena has demanded an ordinance from the Central Government and declaration of a specific date for the construction of Ram Temple.
The local administration has imposed CrPC section 144 in Ayodhya, restricting assembly of people. The Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut spoke to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday and assured him that Thackeray’s visit would be peaceful, and there won’t be any disruptions of law and order by the sainiks.
“The Sena leader will interact with the religious heads (sadhus). The purpose of the visit is to urge the government to build the Ram temple” said Raut, as per reports by The Indian Express.
Thackeray claims that his trip to Ayodhya is to remind BJP of its poll promise- construction of the Ram Temple. The opposition, however, has criticised Thackeray’s move and claim that his visit is politically motivated and meant to polarise voters.
