Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami
Tamil Nadu’s state public sector unit (SPSU) employees will get a Deepavali bonus of up to 20 per cent and ex-gratia depending on their grade and performance, The Hindu has reported. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
The announcement will benefit 3.58 lakh employees of the SPSUs and cost Rs 486 crore to the taxpayer. “Permanent and eligible employees would get between a minimum of Rs 8,400 and a maximum of Rs 16,800,” Palaniswami said.
The bonus for employees will be different for profit-making SPSUs and loss-making SPSUs. Employees of SPSUs that have registered profit would get 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia (in total 20 per cent) . However, employees in SPSUs that have registered loss would get 8.33 per cent bonus and 1.67 per cent ex-gratia (in total 10 per cent).
Employees in the Electricity Board and Civil Supplies Corporation will get the same bonus as is given to profit-making SPSUs.
