Rozgar Mela: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches Employment Drive For 10 Lakh Youth

Joining the Rozgar Mela, Indian Railways, one of the largest employers in India, handed over appointment letters to several newly inducted appointees across the country.
Describing it as an "important milestone" for India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the recruitment drive "Rozgar Mela" for 10 lakh personnel via video conferencing on Saturday (22 October).
According to a statement, appointment letters were handed to 75,000 newly inducted appointees at about 50 locations in the country, as all the central government departments and public sector units joined hands to make the all-India recruitment drive a grand success.
Participating in the Rozgar Mela at Jaipur, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw thanked all those who got appointment letters and said the new appointees are getting opportunities to serve the country on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
While 365 people got appointment letters from different departments at the Jaipur event, including 49 from the Railways, at Bikaner and Jodhpur, the North Western Railway gave 14 and 11 appointment letters respectively.
Northern Railway sent offer letters to 598 candidates from 1 June 2022 to the present. Fresh appointment or offer letters were given to 50 new recruits — 25 in Ambala and 25 in Udhampur.
Explaining the rationale for the job fair, Modi said the practice of giving appointment letters at one go should be started so that the collective nature of completing projects in a time-bound manner is developed in the departments.
Today, India is the fifth-largest economy due to the reforms initiated in the last eight years.
The Prime Minister informed that the central government is working simultaneously on many fronts to create more and more jobs in the country. Massive development works are being carried out to generate lakhs of employment opportunities for the youth at the local level.
The Prime Minister urged the new appointees to always keep their ‘kartavya paths’ in mind when they walk in through the doors of the offices.
"You are being appointed for the service of the citizens of the country,” the Prime Minister said.
The recruitment is carried out by central ministries and departments and through recruitment agencies like the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and Railway Recruitment Board.
The selection process is simplified and technically efficient to facilitate faster recruitment.
