Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three development projects in Gujarat on Saturday, Hindustan Times has reported. He heaped praise on the work that the state has done in the irrigation sector and stressed on the importance of conserving water.

The Kisan Sarvoday Yojana was set in motion by PM Modi. Under this scheme, farmers from the region will receive power supply from 5am to 9pm for irrigation activities. The following districts have been covered under this initiative by 2020-21: Dahod, Patan, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Kheda, Tapi, Valsad, Anand and Gir-Somnath.

Furthermore, a 2.3 km long ropeway has been built in Mount-Girnar, which aims to facilitate 5-6 lakh people every year. “The project was stalled for years. This will create employment opportunities for youth. Once we provide ease-of-living and ease-of-travelling to tourists, we will be able to convert several circuits in Gujarat global tourist spots,” the 70-year-old leader mentioned.

Moreover, a Paediatric Heart Hospital linked with the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre has been launched by PM Modi in Ahmedabad. “Nowadays children are also affected by heart disease. This hospital will cater to not only Gujarat but also to the rest of India,” the Prime Minister mentioned. The UN Mehta Institute is deemed to be equipped with exemplary medical infrastructure and facilities. Currently, it is being expanded to increase the number of beds from 450 to 1251.
