PM Modi Shines Amongst People, Profit And Planet: Awarded First-Ever Philip Kotler Presidential Award

On 14 Janurary (2019) Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the first Philip Kotler Presidential Award for his contributions towards India’s continued development and prosperity.
“Shri Narendra Modi is selected for his outstanding leadership for the nation. His selfless service towards India, combined with his tireless energy has resulted in extraordinary economic, social and technological advances in the country,” the Award Citation noted.
It also recognised Mr Modi’s efforts to bring in the digital revolution in the country. Schemes like Digital India, including Aadhaar, were found to be socially beneficial as they promoted financial inclusion. “It is enabling entrepreneurship, ease of doing business, and creating a 21st century infrastructure for India,” the Citation stated.
The Award added that other initiatives like Make in India, Startup India, and Swachh Bharat “have positioned India as one of the most lucrative manufacturing and business destinations in the world.”
The Award, which will be offered annually to the leader of a nation, focuses on three major aspects to determine the winner: People, Profit and Planet.
Philip Kotler
Philip Kotler, who instituted the award, is a world-renowned intellectual and currently serves as the S C Johnson Distinguished Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Having authored over 50 books on Marketing, he helped create the new field of ‘social marketing’ that focuses on helping individuals and groups modify their behaviours toward healthier and safer living styles.
