Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Integrated Check Post of the Kartarpur Corridor at Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur in Punjab tomorrow (9 November) which would help facilitate Indian pilgrims visiting Gurudwara Kartapur Sahib in Pakistan.

Whether the PM will flag off the first ‘jattha’ of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine is still unclear, as reported by India Today. Former PM Manmohan Singh will also be part of the group of devotees.

The PM will, however, address a public gathering in Dera Baba Nanak Shah in Gurdaspur in Punjab, about 3 kilometres away from the corridor.

Several measures to ensure that the pilgrimage is carried out without issues have been carried out on the Indian side, including a state-of-the-art Passenger Terminal Building. The fully airconditioned building akin to an airport has over 50 immigration counters for facilitating about 5000 pilgrims a day.

A 300 feet national monumental flag is also being hoisted at the International Border.
