Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold meeting with chief ministers of all states today (8 April) to discuss the ongoing COVID situation in the country, reports News On AIR.
The meeting comes in the wake of steep rise in fresh Covid-19 infections.
PM Modi will also discuss the ongoing vaccination drive during the virtual meet.
PM Modi's last interaction with the Chief Ministers was on 17 March. He had expressed concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases in parts of the country and called for quick and decisive steps to check the emerging second peak.
It should be noted that the number of infections in India continue to rise as 1,26,789 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, which is the highest daily spike in infections since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
The total number of active Covid-19 cases in India has surged to 9,10,319.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has surpassed 9 crore mark with the beneficiaries receiving as many as 9,01,98,673 jabs so far.
