Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, Vice President (VP) M Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah today (16 August) paid tribute to the celebrated statesman and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his second death anniversary, reports Asian News International (ANI).
PM Modi said, "Tributes to beloved Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. India will always remember his outstanding service and efforts towards the nation's progress."
Meanwhile, Shah said, "Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was the voice of patriotism and Indian culture. he was a dedicated politician as well as a skilled organiser who played an important role in the foundation and growth of the BJP and inspired millions of workers to serve the country."
Born on 25 December 1924 in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, Vajpayee was also a revered writer with numerous poems and speeches which are still earnestly read and watched. He passed away on 16 August 2018 at AIIMS Delhi succumbing to a prolonged phase of illness. In his honour, 25 December is celebrated as the 'Good Governance Day' every year.
