Polls Say Moo: Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Kamal Nath Turns Cow Saviour, Promises Gaushalas In Every Panchayat

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath has promised to build Gaushalas (cow shelters) in all panchayats in Madhya Pradesh, Zee News reported. The senior leader added that he would have to take steps in this direction because the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has not done anything for cows and cow shelters in the state.
With polls approaching in the state, issues relating to cows and cow shelters have given local politics an intriguing turn. Having stayed out of power for 15 years, Congress has begun to use issues dear to BJP.
The senior leader was speaking in Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. He said, "BJP says very big things about welfare of cows, but does nothing on ground. Hundreds of cows are dying everyday, but no one cares for them." Kamal Nath added that BJP only indulges in politics relating to cows. "We cannot see cows suffering," he said.
Zee News reported that Kamal Nath also used the opportunity to directly attack MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. He also took a dig at the various initiatives taken by prime minister Narendra Modi, such as, Make in India, Skill India, Startup India and Digital India. The report adds that he asked the crowds at his speech if any person has got a benefit from any of these is these initiatives. The senior leader also criticised the move of demonitisation taken by Modi government.
On his mention to cows and cow shelters, Dainik Bhaskar reported that the leader said that he is not only declaring, but making a promise. "Main ghoshna nahin, vachan de kar ja raha hoon" he said.
He said that Congress will stand by its promise the moment it comes to power in Madhya Pradesh and ensure cow protection.
In November last year, however, Kerala Youth Congress workers had taken to slaughtering a cow in the open market to protest what they termed as ‘beef-ban’ slowly being imposed by the Central government.
