With more than 5,000 devotees present to attend the gate closing ceremony of Lord Badrinath, the shrine is now closed for pilgrims for the winter season, Jagran has reported.

The Himalayan shrine in Uttarakhand remains closed for visitors during the winter season as the area remains covered in snow. The procedure for closing the gates of the temple began at 3 pm and the gates were closed at 3.21 pm with rituals amidst chanting of Vedic hymns.

Along with Badrinath temple, gates of Mata Murti temple in Badrinath and Bhavishya Badri temple in Tapovan were also closed.

Earlier, portals of Gangotri temple were closed on 8 November while those of Shri Kedarnath temple and Yamunotri temple were closed on 9 November.
