The slow pace of the civil construction on DN Nagar-Mandale Metro-2B is costing them a loss of Rs 3 crore per day, The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has reportedly said.

The construction of Metro-2B had invited objections from the residents of Juhu, Bandra and Khar resulting in Bombay High Court ordering a stay on all the construction work except that for utilities and soil testing, which has been the cause of delay.

The Metro-2B DN Nagar-Mandale corridor is a 23.5-km-long, and the DN Nagar-Mandale Metro corridor is a part of the Metro-2 (Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mandale).

MMRDA fears a cost escalation for Metro-2B if the current situation prevails. MMRDA will have to bear a daily cost of around Rs 3 crore as contractors are not able to do piling work in places which have been barricaded, said MMRDA official as quoted by Metro Rail.

The total project cost of Metro-2B is Rs 10,986 crore of which MMRDA bears the portion for civil construction. The rest is being funded by the Asian Development Bank through a loan.
