Former Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi
Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi announced her decision to quit the party on Friday (19 April) over its failure to punish the party leaders accused of misbehaving with her during a press conference in Mathura.
In her letter, Chaturvedi thanked the Congress for giving her various roles within the organisation and at the same time reminding it of the alleged abuse, slander and threats she has faced over the course of the political career.
She claimed that in the past few weeks she has come to realise that her services were not valued at the party especially in the light of her appeal for action against party leaders for misbehaving with her, which went unanswered.
Chaturvedi called this indifference by the party as the “final factor” convincing her to move on.
Media reports have claimed that Chaturvedi has been in touch with Shiv Sena leaders and is scheduled to join the party as early as today (19 April).

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
