'Propaganda Piece Designed To Push A Particular Discredited Narrative': MEA On BBC Documentary On PM Modi

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday (19 January) slammed a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "propaganda piece" designed to push a "particular discredited narrative".
UK's National broadcaster BBC aired a two-part series attacking PM Narendra Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister during the Gujarat riots of 2002.
The documentary sparked outrage and was removed from select platforms.
Titled “India: The Modi Question”, the documentary is divided into two parts, the second set for release on 24 January.
Responding to a query on the BBC documentary, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We think this is a propaganda piece designed to push a particular discredited narrative".
"The bias, the lack of objectivity, and frankly a continuing colonial mindset, is blatantly visible. If anything, this film or documentary is a reflection on the agency and individuals that are peddling this narrative again," Bagchi added.
"It makes us wonder about the purpose of this exercise and the agenda behind it and frankly we do not wish to dignify such efforts," the MEA spokesperson said.
