Protests against China intensified in Nepal's capital city of Kathmandu on Monday (28 September) with the members of Nepal students union holding a protest outside the Chinese embassy, reports The Times of India.

The protests erupted over illegal Chinese construction in the northern Nepalese district of Humla. The protestors wore shields and masks, keeping up with the COVID-19 restrictions. However, the masks and shields had slogans condemning the illegal Chinese constructions.

The protestors also carried posters with slogans which said that the areas encroached by China belonged to Nepal. One of the banners read, "Return back to your boundary, China!"

The Nepali Congress which comprises of the chief opposition in the nation has also raked up the issue against the Prime Minister (PM) K P Sharma Oli led Government, criticising it for not even waiting for the field report from the concerned chief district officer of Humla who had been to the site for three days.

Meanwhile, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has brushed aside the claims of Chinese constructions in Nepalese territories and has instead asserted that the said buildings are not located in Nepalese territory.
