In a massive boost for the Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry, Centre has approved roads and highway development projects worth Rs 2,185 crore for the region, reports Livemint.
The major development was made public by Puducherry Chief Minister (CM) V Narayansamy who revealed the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had during his recent visit approved the projects.
These projects include four-laning of several road segments apart from development of highways in the UT. Gadkari was in the UT to review the status of the progress made on ongoing projects.
Meanwhile, CM Narayansamy also announced that the Government of India's flagship Ayushman Bharat scheme which only covers a lakh families in Puducherry as of now will be expanded to cover all 2.5 lakh families of the UT.
