Representatives from the Punjabi community in Israel met Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday (25 October) to seek assistance of the government in procuring land for building a Gurudwara, reports Tribune India.

The community sought his help in securing permission to conduct religious functions independently from the local authorities in Israel. Meanwhile, the CM assured them by saying that he would ask India’s Ambassador to Israel, Pavan Kapoor, for advice on how to go about the matter.

The CM stated that officials from the embassy had informed him that the Israeli administration had strict guidelines on such issues. “The embassy will see what can be done,” he said.

The problem of illegal agents duping Punjabi youth seeking a visa to go to Israel was also discussed by the representatives. The CM reassured them that his government was already cracking the whip against such offenders.
