Rahul Gandhi Gets Basic Multiplication Wrong While Promising Rs 72,000 Under NYAY Scheme

Congress President Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a rally in Jabalpur on Tuesday (23 April) got basic multiplication wrong while promising Rs 72,000 to poor families under the NYAY scheme.
As per the above video, Rahul Gandhi first started to explain the magic of NYAY Yojana and assured that crowd that he and his colleagues work in a logical manner.
He alleged that Modi took money from people’s pocket which nullified their purchasing power. Rahul Gandhi added that this stopped people from buying clothes and combs and phones thus Indian factories also stopped manufacturing those goods.
Rahul Gandhi then alleged that this led to mass unemployment. He though assured people by saying that NYAY Yojana will put back money in people’s pocket while adding that they will get “Rs 8,000 per month which will translate to Rs 72,000 per year”.
In this process Rahul Gandhi got basic multiplication wrong as Rs 8,000 per month translates to Rs 96,000 per year and not Rs 72,000 per year.
Incidentally, it isn’t the only time Rahul Gandhi has bungled up facts when it comes to the NYAY scheme.
It was reported that he had made a gaffe promising Rs 72,000 crore per year to each poor family. He had also made a similar gaffe by promising Rs 72,000 per month to each such poor family under this scheme.
