Congress member Rahul Gandhi.
Former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (16 December) walked out of a Parliamentary panel meeting on Defence which was also being attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Press Trust of India has reported.
As per the report, Rahul Gandhi was joined by fellow Congress leaders Rajeev Satav and Revanth Reddy in the walkout.
The report claims that the panel was discussing the issue of uniforms of the Army, Navy and Air Force in presence of General Rawat when suddenly Rahul Gandhi spoke up.
Rahul Gandhi reportedly demanded that the panel should instead discuss the issue of national security and the soldiers fighting the Chinese at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
When panel chairman Jual Oram stopped him from speaking, he and his fellow Congress leaders proceeded to walk out of the meeting.
This incident comes a few months after Rahul Gandhi was accused of not attending a single meeting of the standing committee on defence by BJP president J P Nadda.
