A Miniratna PSU of Indian Railways, RailTel has launched free Wi-Fi services at the Dera Baba Nanak station and the Integrated Check Post on Indian side of the Kartarpur Corridor for convenience of pilgrims visiting the pilgrimage site.
Kartarpur Corridor had been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 9 November to provide easy access to pilgrims going to Pakistan to visit the Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara in view of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak.
The Dera Baba Nanak station had seen an increasing inflow of commuters owing to the festivities. The Sultanpur Lodhi station which has a rush of pilgrims for visiting Dera Baba Nanak has also been provided with Wi-Fi.
RailTel was entrusted by NIC to deliver 8 Mbps BW at the ICP. This leased line connectivity has been done by the PSU within a record time of 15 days which includes Radio Connectivity in Backbone/Aggregation from Amritsar to Dera Baba Nanak, a distance of 45 km, and Last mile underground OFC connectivity of 5 km from Dera Baba Nanak station to ICP/Dera Baba Nanak.
