Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State (MoS) for Railways, recently assessed the Indian Railways’ rail line project between Rishikesh-Karnaprayag in Uttarakhand.

Jardosh expressed contentment at the pace at which the development work of the project, which is India’s longest railway tunnel of 15.1 km, had progressed.

The MoS mentioned that the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag line project is a ‘firm step’ towards the process of nation-building and ensuring easy accessibility to the Char Dham by the public.

Once this rail line is opened for general public, it will allow all passengers and devotees to very conveniently travel and visit the holy shrines situated across the region.

There will be 12 new railway stations, 17 tunnels and 16 bridges in the broad gauge line between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag.

The project is slated to be completed by the end of 2024 and is likely to give a boost the tourism industry along with promoting trade and rail connectivity between the five districts of Uttarakhand, Financial Express reports.
