Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu
Indian Railways plans to invest Rs 12,000 crore on developing a digital platform that will integrate information from all of departments, thus leading to a saving of approximately Rs 60,000 crore.
He said that an investment to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 12,000 crore would be required to set up the new platformed, named IR-One ICT , which would result in savings of close to Rs 60,000 crore in the long run.
The first phase would be implemented in two or three years, following which monitoring operations using a common platform would be possible.
Prabhu also remarked that passenger complaints were the best tool available for the railways to make decisions.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
