Rajasthan Looking For Reforms Push Via Upcoming Mega Agri-Meet

The Rajasthan government is expecting an investment of about Rs 7,000 crore at its Agri-tech meet in Jaipur next week, State Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini informed the media.
"The government has already signed memorandums of understanding worth Rs 4,000 crore so far and we are expecting an investment of another Rs 3,000 crore during the meet, Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM)," Saini added.
The three-day event will be held on November 9-11 and is expected to be attended by around 50,000 farmers and 200 industry players. Rajasthan has 40,000 villages and the government is aiming to get at least one farmer from each village.
"We have taken up several initiatives and measures to double up farmers' income. The meet is aimed at empowerment of farmers in our state," the minister said.
The state government is also looking to promote e-Mandi platform under the central government's electronic national agriculture market (e-NAM) system. The Hindu quoted State Principal Agriculture Secretary Neelkamal Darbari saying that farmers attending the mega agricultural event would get the benefit of consultancy after their registration under the eNAM.
Recently, NITI Ayog placed Rajasthan at third position in its agriculture reform rankings. It will be looking to better it's position next year. With the plethora of reforms the State government has launched in the past couple of years, it can hope to climb higher.
Saini said that advanced and best practices will be showcased and discussed during the three-day meet. "We are expecting investment even from foreign countries, like Israel and Australia," he added.
