Telugu actor Rana Daggubati – who shot to global stardom after the Baahubali series – is set to make his Malayalam debut soon, where he will play Marthanda Varma, the King of Travencore. He announced this on his Twitter account.
The film, titled Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma - The King of Travancore will be directed by K Madhu with the Baahubali star essaying the titular role. Marthanda Varma was the first Asian ruler to defeat the Dutch troops. Director K Madhu intends to shoot a second film titled Karthika Thirunal Marthanda Varma, reports The News Minute.
Oscar winner Resul Pookutty will be the sound engineer while Peter Hein will be choreographing the stunts. Art director Manu Jagath of Baahubali fame will erect the sets.
Said to be Madhu’s dream project, the film will be made on a grand budget and will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
