‘Ready For All Efforts Over Ram Mandir Solution, Will Consider Ordinance Only After Legal Process Is Over’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (1 January) gave an interview to news agency ANI, wherein he stated that the government will decide on bringing in an ordinance over Ram Mandir only after the judicial process is over.

He was quoted as saying that after the process is over, whatever will be the government’s responsibility, they are ready to make all efforts.

He said that as per the BJP manifesto they are committed to finding a solution under the ambit of the Constitution. He also reportedly hinted that Congress’ lawyers were creating legal obstacles in the Supreme Court thereby slowing down the judicial process.

While speaking on other subjects, Modi asserted that 2019 will be a battle between the janta and the gathbandhan and not him and everyone else. He also defended demonetisation by asserting that it wasn’t a Jhatka and that people were warned over a year before regarding black money.

On cross-border attacks by Pakistan, Modi stated that it would be wrong to assume that the neighbour would mend its ways after one battle.

He also sought to clear the air over former RBI governor Urjit Patel’s resignation. He claimed that it was Patel himself who had sought to resign from his post and there was no angle of political pressure. He added that Patel has been speaking to him about this matter six to seven months before his resignation eventually came.

Modi during the course of the interview also trained his guns on the Gandhis.

Reminiscing on 2018, Modi called it a successful year and lauded schemes like Ayushman Bharat Yojna. Over BJP’s electoral defeat, Modi said that his party had little chance in Mizoram and Telangana.

He called Chhattisgarh a clear mandate and described Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan as hung assembly and added that discussions are underway over what went wrong.

When quizzed over economic offenders, Modi asserted that those who fled during his government’s tenure would be brought back either via diplomatic channels or legal means.

“Those who have stolen India’s money, they will have to compensate for each and every penny”, said Modi.
