Reliance To Supply 700 Tonnes Of Medical Oxygen Per Day Free Of Cost, Provides Relief To 70,000 Covid-19 Patients

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has installed the required equipment and set up processes at its Jamnagar oil refinery in Gujarat to produce over 700 tonnes a day of medical-grade oxygen which is being supplied free of cost to states badly affected by Covid-19.

Initially, Jamnagar refinery produced 100 tonnes of medical-grade oxygen, which is now increased to over 700 tonnes and the company has plans to raise the production capacity to 1,000 tonnes.

The produced medical grade oxygen is being supplied to states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh providing relief to over 70,000 critically ill patients everyday, reports The Economic Times.

It is noteworthy that the entire supply of oxygen, including transportation in special tankers at minus 183 degrees Celsius is made at no cost to the state governments.

Mukesh Ambani led RIL which operates the world's largest oil refining complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat is also at forefront in providing relief during Covid-19 pandemic.

During last year’s lockdown, the company provided over 5.5 lakh litres of free fuel, supporting over 14,000 ambulances across 249 districts in 18 states.

RIL also donated Rs 556 crore to various relief funds including PM Cares.

In a largest meal distribution programme undertaken by a corporate foundation anywhere in the world, Reliance Foundation launched Mission Anna Seva under which it has provided over 5.5 crore meals across 80 districts.
