Several more second AC trains are likely to ply on the Western local line of Mumbai city by March 2019, reports First Press Journal.

The second AC train will ply on the Western line from January 2019, said AK Gupta, general manager, Western Railways. There will be an increase in the frequency of the train, after getting the second AC rake, he added.

Commuters do not have problems like troubles with door closure and temperature fluctuations.

An improved door-closing mechanism, thoroughly controlled AC temperatures, levelled flooring inside vestibule coaches and a pathway on the roof for technical staff to maintain and repair AC units and other paraphernalia are among the demands the Western Railways officials have put forward to be incorporated in the new coaches. However, the chances of these changes reflecting in the new coaches are reportedly scant.

There have been constant complaints of the door not closing on time during operations.

Commuters on the train had to pull the chain once in June to bring it to a halt at Andheri station, as they experienced suffocation and sweating as the air conditioning system was “not functioning” in three of the coaches.

The first and the only AC local train in Mumbai began operations on 25 December 2017 and crossed the 10 lakh-passenger mark within the first five months.
