Shyam Rajak, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) politician and former aide of Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar, met sidelined Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) heir Chirag Paswan and declared intentions of building a united alliance against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state.

Rajak even mentioned that the younger Paswan has held discussions with RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav as well.

The RJD leader stressed that there was a need to build a coalition against the BJP with respect to issues such as the interests of the backward castes and the Dalits, Economic Times reports.

The Tejaswi Yadav-led party has openly expressed its support to Chirag ever since he was cast aside from his own party by the coup led by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras.

Paras, brother of late LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, gathered support of five other MPs of the party and ousted Chirag as the leader of the LJP in the Lok Sabha.

Chirag is said to be upset with the BJP for not supporting him amidst this crisis. Pashupati Paras even managed to secure a cabinet berth in the recent expansion and took oath as the Union Minister of Food Processing Industries on 7th July.

A cabinet minister’s post was lying vacant from LJP’s quota since the senior Paswan’s demise last year and Chirag was seen as a contender for that post, prior to the internal crisis that emerged in the party.
