Following his criticism of Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s conduct in the Lok Sabha, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has expelled its national spokesperson Shankar Charan Tripathi with immediate effect for anti-party activities, The Tribune has reported.

RJD national secretary general SM Qamar Alam issued a letter conveying the party’s decision. “Tripathi has been relieved of all his responsibilities in the party, besides cancelling the party membership,” the letter read.

Tripathi had slammed Rahul Gandhi for his childish behaviour in the house during the no-confidence motion and said that it was unbecoming of a person who considers himself the prime ministerial candidate. Gandhi had hugged the Prime Minister after his speech and winked at his colleagues in the house.

On the other hand RJD leader Tejwashwi Yadav had praised the Congress president for his speech in a tweet.

Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour was also condemned by the Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan saying that the act was against expected parliamentary conduct and had diminished the sanctity and decorum of the house.

Goa BJP spokesperson Dattaprasad Naik also slammed Rahul Gandhi’s move yesterday (23 July) calling him a ‘loafer’.
