Sabarimala Case: RSS Goes One Step Further, Explores Judicial Review By Larger Bench

Breaking its silence over the Sabarimala issue, The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday (3 October), five days after the Supreme Court’s decision of striking down the centuries-old custom of barring girls and women of menstrual age from entering the temple, said that a judicial review by a larger bench should be considered, reported The New Indian Express.
All the stakeholders, including spiritual and community leaders must come together to analyse and address the issue, said RSS general secretary Suresh Joshi, adding that the sentiments of millions of devotees, including women, cannot be ignored.
He maintained that the Supreme Court order must be given its due respect, and the stakeholders are bound to raise their grievance to the authorities in a peaceful way.
The RSS had described the Kerala government’s move to not file a review petition in the Supreme Court against the order permitting women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple as “unfortunate”. It also called upon all the stakeholders to come together to address the issue.
