Reiterating his stand on the Supreme court ruling on the entry of menstruating women in Sabarimala, Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, said that the government would file no review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the order, reports The Hindustan Times.
The response assumes significance as Kerala saw one of its rarest forms of Hindu movements involving large mass participation, particularly of women, demanding the restoration of the traditions of the hill temple.
He slammed protesters for creating a law and order situation on the issue. He alleged that the RSS was inciting and flaming up religious sentiments of devotees.
“RSS is trying to create a law and order situation in the state taking advantage of this verdict. Government is bound to implement the Supreme Court verdict,” Mr Vijayan told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Communist government under Pinarayi Vijayan had supported women’s entry during the court proceedings when the court sought the states’ opinion in the matter. He also slammed Opposition leaders in the Congress for criticising the government’s move to implement the verdict in letter and spirit.
“We will deal with them in a grim manner.”, Pinarayi Vijayan warned the protesters. RSS is propagating a hoax that the government is responsible for the verdict. All changes in society began with some form of confrontation. As an elected government, we are duty-bound to implement the orders of the Supreme Court,” said the Chief Minister.
