Bharatiya Janata Party is reportedly trying to woo Aam Aadmi Party’s rebel leader Kumar Vishwas and singer-dancer Sapna Chaudhary in order to boost its Lok Sabha polls campaign.

According to an Indian Express report, it was learnt that BJP’s Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari is in talks with Kumar Vishwas to bring him into BJP’s fold as a member or at least to campaign for it. The two leaders have reportedly met in the past on the sidelines of television programmes and share cordial relations.

Vishwas, in one such programme, had on a lighter note said that Tiwari had been asking him to join the BJP.

However, Sources have cleared that even if Vishwas joins BJP, he is unlikely to get a ticket from Delhi and could be considered for “important posts and responsibilities in the future or from another state.”

“The party considers him as a great orator,” a source was quoted in the report as saying. However, IE could not get a response from Vishwas as he did not respond to calls.

Tiwari also met with Haryanvi singer-dancer Sapna Chaudhary over dinner on Sunday (31 March) and asked her to campaign for the party in areas having sizeable Jat population, as reported by Indian Express. This was Tiwari’s second meet with Chaudhary.

As per the report, Congress leader Raj Babbar had earlier claimed that Sapna had joined the party but the singer denied doing so the next day.

“Tiwari managed to convince her that she would lose on a Congress ticket. And that ideologically, she had more in common with the BJP,” a source said. Delhi BJP chief also advised her to campaign for the party right now as she is young and could contest polls in the future.
