Issuing a formal notice to the Centre, Supreme Court on Tuesday (30 April) adjourned the hearing of the Rafale review petitions to 6 May after the government sought more time to file a response in the matter.

The Attorney General KK Venugopal sought four weeks of time to file reply on the review petitions but the apex court only gave time till Saturday (4 May).

A bench comprising of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph is hearing the petitions asking for review of the SC verdict in the case.

The apex court, on 10 April, had decided to hear the review petitions, filed in its judgement on Rafale case, on merits. The court had rejected the preliminary objections raised by the central government regarding admissibility of documents produced by the petitioners, reports Live Law.

According to the report, the petitioners, relying on some media reports, have sought the review of the 14 December judgement by the SC in which the apex court had dismissed the petition for investigation into the allegations of corruption in the Rafale deal.
