Seattle council member Kshama Savant who infamously introduced and passed an anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) resolution has now been charged with breaking multiple laws for using her office to promote a “tax Amazon” ballot measure, Seattle Times has reported.

As part of this initiative Savant has claimed that she wishes to pile up more taxes on Amazon and other big companies.

This has resulted in charges from the executive director of the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission (SEEC), Wayne Barnett who has alleged that Savant broke two laws when her office posted links to the “tax Amazon” initiative.

As per Barnett, council members are prohibited from using city facilities to promote ballot measures and non-city activities.

If the charges are proven against Savant, she may have to shell out a $5,000 fine. The date of the hearing has been set at 4 March.
