A day after gunning down five Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)'s Shopian district including a commander, the security forces have eliminated four more terrorists in the same district in an encounter which broke out this morning, reports Times of India.
After reception of credible and specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Shopian's Pinjora area. The search operation escalated into an enocunter after terrorists opened fire on the forces.
The identities of the killed terrorists or their group affiliation have not been announced as part of a new policy to prevent the youngsters from joining terrorist groups.
It should be noted that yesterday's encounter took place at Reban area of Shopian, while today's encounter took place at a different location.
Shopian district lies in South Kashmir which has largely been hit by separatist violence fomented by Pakistan-infiltrated terrorists hailing from anti-India terrorist outfits like Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
