A terrorist has been shot down by security forces in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday (22 August), Hindustan Times reported citing officials.
While the encounter was underway at the time of writing the report, the officials said at least three terrorists could be trapped in Saloosa area of Kreeri in the district.
According to the report, forces had received intel about some activities in the village after which Personnel of Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot, they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
This encounter site is close to Watergam Kreeri where five soldiers were martyred and three terrorists were killed on Monday after an attack on a joint patrol party.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
