Seventeenth Lok Sabha’s First Session Recorded Highest Number Of Working Hours In The Last 20 Years

The first session of the seventeenth Lok Sabha recorded the highest number of working hours in the last 20 years, while also setting a record for highest number of questions being answered orally, reports Asian News International (ANI).

In terms of productivity of the Lok Sabha, which worked for 281 hours, a net productivity of 135 per cent was registered over the course of 37 days of the session.

It should be noted that on an average, the Lok Sabha has worked only for 81 per cent of its scheduled time in the course of the past 20 years. Also, over the past 20 years, the average number of questions answered orally stood at only 15 per cent for the Lok Sabha while in this session, the figure was as high as 36 per cent.

The Lok Sabha, which spent 46 per cent of its time on carrying out legislative business, witnessed a total of 38 Bills being introduced in the Budget session, of which 28 were passed by the Lower House.
