Sharad Pawar: BJP Will Retain Power In Assam, But Lose In Other States

National Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that according to him, BJP will retain power in Assam but will lose in Assembly elections in other four states, namely West Bengal, Tamil Naidu, Kerala and Puducherry, reports PTI.

The Assembly elections in these five states will be held in March-April and the votes will be counted on 2 May 2021. While talking to reporters, Pawar said that elections in these five states will give a new direction to the country.

He also said that he has no doubt that Mamata Banerjee will retain power in the upcoming West Bengal elections.

"In West Bengal, the Centre, especially the BJP, is misusing power and trying to attack a sister (referring to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) who is trying to fight for the people of the state. I have no doubt that the TMC will retain power under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee," he said.

Pawar also gave his predictions on the upcoming elections in Kerala and Tamil Naidu and said, "It is wrong to talk about the results of the five states today as the people of these states will take the decision. As far as Kerala is concerned, the Left parties and the NCP have come together and we are sure we will get a clear-cut majority."

"In Tamil Nadu, people will support DMK and its chief MK Stalin, and they will come to power in the state after the polls,” he predicted.

While talking about the Assam Assembly elections, he said as per the inputs he received from his party people, BJP is in a better position than others, and would retain power in Assam.

"In a nutshell, the BJP will retain power in Assam, but will face defeat in other poll-bound states, and other political parties in those states will come to power. I am confident this trend will give a new direction to the country," Sharad Pawar said.
