RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
Two schools run by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat will no longer receive endowment grant by the Kollur Mookambika Temple Trust following orders issued by the State Muzrai Department to withdraw the aid.
These schools, which are located in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, were adopted by the temple trust in 2007 and have continued to receive aid for the last 10 years. The state has now ordered the withdrawal of grants to the temple, registered under the Muzrai Department, Suvarna News has reported.
Although the state government has pointed out that there is no provision in Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act to adopt private educational institutions by temples and maintain them, it hasn’t provided a reason for not acting against the orders in the last five years.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
