Singapore and Kuwait have emerged with highest figures of expatriate Indian nationals contracting the COVID-19 disease, with the combined total cases from the two nations making up more than half of the overall 6,200 such cases which have been reported globally, reports Hindustan Times.

Singapore had until late last week recorded more than 2,300 such cases. Most of these comprised of workers living in dormitories. Overall, Indians now make almost a quarter of the total of more than 11,000 cases which were recorded in Singapore till last week. Meanwhile, more than 1,300 such cases had been reported from Kuwait.

It should be noted that most of the cases of Indian nationals who have tested positive in Iran were elderly Shia pilgrims visiting the holy city of Qom. These people mostly hailed out of the Kashmir Valley, and from the States of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Maharashtra.
