Smriti Irani Buys Land In Amethi To Build A House; Says That No MP Before Her Built A Home And Stayed There
Smriti Irani and Rahul Gandhi to battle it out in Amethi.
Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani has bought a plot of land in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi to build a house for herself in the constituency from where she was elected to the Lok Sabha by defeating the then Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, reports Livemint.
Sharing the development, Irani took an apparent dig on Gandhi by emphasising that no Member of Parliament (MP) from Amethi ever made the constituency his home and stayed there before her. She said, "The people of Amethi always wondered if their MP would ever reside here after building his house."
Irani also added, "I have been residing in a rented accommodation here till now" and said that she would invite all the people from her constituency during the “bhoomi poojan" for the construction of her house here.
