Power supply to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official secretariat may be disconnected as Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has issued a notice over non-payment of dues to the tune of Rs 41 lakh, IANS has reported.
The IESCO had issued several reminders to Imran Khan’s office, urging it to pay the electricity dues but there was no response from the secretariat.
“This is a recurrent problem with the Secretariat. We will cut off the power supply if dues are not paid”, an IESCO official was quoted as saying.
The notice was sent to Imran Khan’s office on 28 August. The outstanding dues till last month were Rs 35 lakh which have then increased to Rs 41 lakh this month.
Pakistan in recent years has been plagued with a power crisis with the nation facing rampant power cuts which has resulted in disgruntlement among the masses.
