Soon India-Made Wings For F-16 Fighter Jets As Lockheed Martin Awards Contract To Tata

Lockheed Martin, the American defence manufacturing giant, has awarded the contract for making the wings of the fighter jet F-16 to Indian company Tata, said a senior executive of the US company which makes the aircraft, reports The Tribune.
According to the report, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics’ vice-president of strategy and business development Vivek Lall said that the contract has been awarded to Tata and is not dependent on the Lockheed Martin winning the fighter jet contract in India.
“Lockheed Martin is fully committed to meeting India’s need for advanced, scalable defence capabilities,” Lall said while addressing the media at an event.
Our partnership with the Indian industry on both the F-21 fighter jets for the IAF and S-76D helicopter for the Indian Navy will put India at the epicentre of world’s largest defence ecosystem and promises export opportunities, he said.
