Sri Lanka Based Employee Of IT Firm Virtusa Arrested In Connection With Easter Sunday Bombings
Sri Lankan police searching Virtusa campus in Colombo
The Sri Lankan police arrested an employee of Massachusetts headquartered IT services company Virtusa in Colombo in connection to the deadly Easter bombings that killed more than 250 people, Reuters reported.
The arrest followed a series of raids carried out in various areas of the country following the Easter blasts in which more than 40 suspects have been arrested so far.
Police spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekra confirmed to Reuters that the Virtusa employee was arrested on 27 April "to carry out further investigations into the case".
Virtusa, while confirming the arrest of one of its employee at the Colombo office, said that it could not ascertain the reason behind the arrest.
“We have been informed by the authorities that one of our employees has been taken into custody," Julianne Garry, Virtusa's chief marketing officer, said.
She added that in the wake of recent bombings, various security protocols have been enacted and the local authorities have been contacted to ensure the safety of its employees.
According to the Reuters report, authorities also conducted further search at Virtusa’s Colombo office this week.
