In a big boost for adoption and use of electric vehicles in Goa, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, the state-run Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) is set to supply 30,000 electric two-wheelers to the three States, reports Livemint.

The pact which will be signed today (5 June) by the three states and CESL, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), also includes the setting up of charging infrastructure.

Under the pact, the EV scheme run by CESL will be open to all Goans. Meanwhile, in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, the scheme will only be open to government employees.

In addition to these, CESL is also going to enter into a pact with the Pune Municipal Corporation for leasing out and operating three-wheeler electric vehicles for the municipal body's garbage collection fleet.

The CESL is aiming to have as many as two lakh two-wheelers and three lakh three-wheelers electric vehicles across India. It plans to nearly halve the price of the two-wheeler electric vehicles from the current about Rs 1.4 lakh to about Rs 75,000.
