Statue Of Former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew To Be Built In Tamil Nadu's Mannargudi Says Chief Minister MK Stalin
Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a statue and a memorial for former Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew
Speaking at a cultural event organised by Tamils in Singapore, Chief Minister MK Stalin said that his government would build a statue and a library in memory of Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore, in Mannargudi.
He added that Lee Kuan Yew was impressed by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) founder CN Annadurai's speech and called him 'elder brother.' Later he also hosted a feast for Annadurai.
Further, he said that a lot of Tamils in Singapore are originally from places in and around Mannargudi like Pattukottai, Paravakottai, Koopachikottai, Tirumakottai, Ullikottai, Melathirupalakudi, Keelathirupalakudi, Alankottai, Neduvakottai and Melavasal.
He also promised to look into requests of Singapore-Tamils like organising tours to Tamil Nadu so that they can get closer to their roots and inclusion of literary works of their country's Tamil writers in the state's libraries.
Chief Minister Stalin is on a visit to the country to attract investments to the state and invite officials and businesspersons to take part in the Global Investor's Summit scheduled in January 2024.
