As Chennai gears up to celebrate Deepavali, the city traffic police have come out with several restrictions in order to avoid congestion of roads. According to the latest announcements, heavy vehicles won’t be allowed to enter the city anywhere between 2 PM and 2 AM for a period of four days starting from 3 November.
Those vehicles coming from Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram are going to be diverted to CTH Road using the Outer Ring Road that falls near Vandalur flyover. The route further extends to Padi flyover, GNT Road and Madhavaram roundabout, The Hindu reported.
Likewise, those vehicles entering from Tiruvallur and Sriperumbudur will be diverted using the Outer Ring Road and Nazarathpet.
For private buses coming from the market at Koyambedu, the police have prepared arrangements. Permissions have been denied to omni buses that proceed on the bypass at Maduravoyal and 100 feet road towards Vadapalani. Across six bus terminals, public buses will be operational.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
