Indian soldiers carried out a surgical operation on the Pakistan Army’s administrative headquarters, situated in Khuiratta and Samani areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), as reported by The New Indian Express.

Reports state that the attack was carried out to avenge the recent shelling on Indian Army camps which took place on 23 October in the border district of Poonch (in J&K). “In response to Pakistani army's firing of stray shells on Poonch and Jhallas on October 23, 2018, the Indian Army has sent a strong signal by firing at Pakistani army administrative headquarters... and the residents of border villages also reported that they could see smoke emanating," an army official told the Press Trust of India. “The Army action was successful. It was a good strike,” a senior army officer observed.

In keeping with its tradition, the officials mentioned that the Indian Army exercised maximum restraint despite incessant provocation by the Pakistan Army. The Indian troops ensured that civilian population residing in the target areas were left unharmed.

Video footage of the operation, in which Pakistan military headquarters can be seen being hit by shell fire and going up in flames, has emerged.

Further, the officer disclosed that heavy casualties had been inflicted on the Pakistan Army, in India’s retaliatory action at the LoC since 2017, with over 200 soldiers being killed. This had forced the Pakistan Army to request for a ceasefire in the face of mounting casualties.
