Swachhagrah: On Satyagrah’s Centenary, PM Modi To Launch Four Sewerage Projects As Part Of Namami Gange

Launching his Swachhagrah on the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagrah, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will today (10 April) lay the foundation stone for four sewerage projects worth over Rs 1100 crore in Patna.
The four projects together will encompass 376.12 km of sewage network in Patna along with a sewage treatment plant (STP) with 60 million litres per day (MLD) capacity. The projects are a part of 29 such projects in Bihar under the Namami Gange scheme for cleaning the river Ganga.
As part of the centenary celebrations, PM Modi also addressed 20,000 Swachhagrahis, who help create awareness about cleanliness in communities, and lauded the Bihar government’s efforts towards promoting cleanliness and sanitation in the state.
Patna is currently fifth among the cities contributing maximum to Ganga’s pollution with more than 257 MLD of sewage generation. Of this, only 84 MLD is treated with a capacity gap of 67 per cent.
