Tables Turn: After MeToo Movement, Firms View Men As ‘More Risky Hires’; Half Of The Vacated Positions Filled By Women

More than a year after the inception of #MeToo movement, an analysis has found that at least 200 prominent men, after public allegations of sexual harassment, have lost their jobs, and nearly half of them were replaced by women, New York Times has reported.
According to the report, at least 920 people accused these 200 men of sexual misconduct.
Prior to the #MeToo movement, less than 30 high profile people resigned or were fired due to public accusations of sexual misconduct in the preceding year.
The analysis conducted by the paper shows that the #MeToo movement was able to shake power structures in the society and still continues to do so.
Reports suggest, 43 per cent positions of those men who had to quit their jobs due to sexual misconduct allegations, were filled by women.
A major portion of these replacements were in Industries like news media, government, entertainment and arts. One third of those women who were hired to replace men are in news media, one-fourth are in government and one fifth are in entertainment and fine arts.
