A survey has revealed that more than 40 per cent Indians prefer “holidaying at home” than buying an expensive and luxurious trips or going to wellness and spa trips abroad.

The survey conducted by YouGov and commissioned by Priority Pass, found out that 30 per cent Indians enjoyed domestic trips, while over 25 per cent enjoyed a cultural trip overseas, in reference to the world’s leading and original airport experience programmes.

Almost 20 per cent would spend an average of Rs 23,619 on a holiday in India. Moreover, this is the activity they enjoy the most.

Author of The Next Big Thing, William Higham, said, “People increasingly look for more ‘meaning’ in what they do and therefore, possessions are proving less valuable than experiences and the memories and learning they offer. In future, what we do will matter more to us and our peer network than what we buy,” reports The Tribune.

Through this survey, Indians were found to be valuing experiences like catching a film at the cinema or going out for a meal at a fine-dining restaurant (nearly 50 per cent each). These results point out that for people, a shared social experience is key to enjoyment.
